High-performance single coils

Whether in torque motors or in the trend technology axial flux motor: concentrated windings are used in a wide range of applications. Flat conductor coils enable higher copper fill levels and efficiencies than classic round wire windings.

Highest torques in electric motors

Additive Drives develops customized electric motors for a wide range of applications, including special applications in electric aerospace, but also for heavy commercial vehicles and special machinery. Powerful electric drives play a decisive role in all future developments in these areas. High-torque motors with concentrated windings are an important component in meeting the high demands of the various special applications.

Whether in torque motors or in the trend technology axial flux motor: concentrated windings are used in a wide range of applications. They enable the highest power densities in the smallest installation space and, by using 3D printing for flat conductor coils, performance can be significantly increased through higher fill factors, optimized winding heads and functional integration.

The perfect geometric adaptation not only enables higher copper fill factors and efficiencies than with the classic round wire winding, but also a more compact design thanks to better heat dissipation. In combination with integrated oil cooling, very high power densities of over 25 kW/kg can be achieved.

The benefits at a glance:

  • Perfect geometric fit
  • Function integration
  • Unsurpassed power density

bending operation for magnet wire ton achieve high copper filling factors in electric motors

In addition to the possibilities offered by 3D printing, conventionally bent flat conductor coils for larger quantities can also be produced on the in-house system technology. Customer-specific designs are implemented in series production. Particularly high copper fill levels can be achieved by using state-of-the-art insulation methods.
